Piston rings, valve guides or what?

There are a few potential causes for excessive oil consumption in a car engine, including:

Piston rings: Worn or damaged piston rings can allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber, where it is burned along with the fuel. This can cause blue smoke to come out of the exhaust pipe.

Valve guides: Worn or damaged valve guides can also allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber. This can cause blue smoke to come out of the exhaust pipe.

Oil seals: Worn or damaged oil seals can allow oil to leak from the engine. This can cause oil to drip onto the ground under the car.

PCV valve: A faulty PCV valve can cause a buildup of pressure in the crankcase, which can force oil past the piston rings and valve guides. This can cause blue smoke to come out of the exhaust pipe.

It's important to have the root cause of excessive oil consumption diagnosed by a qualified mechanic, as some of these issues may require repairs or replacements to fix.
