Cadillac: 1991 Check Engine Light Codes E30, E39, E98, torque converter clutch, soleniod
Question1991 Sedan DeVille 4.9 liter engine -
Reading other questions/answers here have determined E30and E98 relate to idle speed (which is something I've noticed in the way car drives since light first came on). What is code E39?
AnswerE30 = ISC outof range.
E98 = Park to neutral and drive to reverse ISC engaged problem.
E39 = torque converter clutch circuit fault or faulty
soleniod in the transmission.
First CLEAR all the codes from the computer.
Disconnecting the battery does NOT clear the codes.
Re-enetr diagnostics and see what codes return. You should drive the car at 55 to 60 mph for 15 minutes for the E39 code to appear IF it does.
