Chevrolet: unleaded gasoline, fuel additives, unleaded gasoline
QuestionQUESTION: I am thinking of buying a 1964 corvette with a 327 engine and I have been told that these older engines don't like the newer gas ie: lower octane,and no lead.What can be done to allow me to drive this vehicle with modern gas? I want to be able to use this vehicle as an everyday type vehicle.
ANSWER: Patrick;
Hi well with the lower octane it will not run as well if it had the good old hi test, but there is some fuel additives that you can add to the fuel tank and that will help with the fuel so it will run better.

QUESTION: Is the lack of lead a problem and if it is,are there additives available for this?
Thank You for the info.
AnswerPatrick;
Hi yes the fuel now has little or no lead , there are plenty of additives that you can add to the fuel tank each time you fill it up- or you could even buy air craft fuel or racing fuel to add to the gas, it cost a lot $$$ - but if you get a can of additive to boost the octane and lead it should help out a lot. ok
