Chevrolet: timming, tdc, piston

I took the distributor out but i didn't mess with the cam

HI - when you took it out  did you put it back the right way ? it must be timed and put in on tdc with the no# 1 piston up. and than you put the rotor facing the no# 1 plug wire on the dist cap. if it is not in right it will never run right or start.  ok
