I dont believe that anything like that was looked at, but I will have it checked.

    I would jack it up and check every front end part , and  linkage, tie rod ends /  ball joints /  upper and lower cont. arms, etc. check everything for excess  play. U say the engine runs fine right. so it must be a loose or worn part.The motor mounts are good so keep looking also the steering box -  does it have play ?
