Dodge: four wheel drive, mechanic friend, shift fork

Question
1995 ram 1500 4x4. transfer case engages. front axle not engaging. changed vacum switch on top of transfer case it has 4 lines off top. should diafram and switch on front axle be changed or is there something else i should be looking for. any advice  you could give me to resolve problem would be appreciated

Sorry for taking so much time to respond to your question,I had to read up on this some!I was reading the manual and it says the shift fork may be cracked or inserts worn or fork binding on the rail.I'm waiting on another response from my other mechanic friend.I will respond when he gives me his answer.Thanks RamMan
