theres a vacuum can the size of a tomato can under the drivers door that rusted out and i don't know what its for or where to get one

It is a vacuum reservoir.  Basically you can replace it with any air tight container roughly the same size.  It store a reserve of vacuum for devices to a- operate after the engine is shut off, and b- operate vacuum devices without drastically dropping engine vacuum
