Ford: 1987 F150, mile trip, fords
QuestionI have an 87 F150 that runs fine in the winter but as soon as the weather starts getting warm the truck acts up. Its fine for a 7-10 mile trip to the store but as it gets warmer it acts as if it is going to cut off. I have to push the clutch and keep revving the motor to keep it running. Sometimes that doesnt even help.
I have recently replaced the pumps and filters. Any Ideas?
AnswerHello,
The idle air control motor is a very common failure on older Fords. They especially act up warm.
You can try to clean them with carb spray and a toothbrush, but when they get bad, they need to be replaced.
