I have a '97 F150 4.6L V8. The head gaskets are leaking radiator fluid. The Ford dealer wants $2200 to replace them. I have heard that this engine has head gasket problems because the head is aluminum and the block is cast iron. I also heard that if I replace the head gaskets, the new ones won't last very long. Is that true? Is there a special gasket I can get?

your out but if you call the dealer to see if you can get ext, warr it would probely cost you around $500 to $600 but it be worth it because those heads are a pain in the butt. you have to have special tools to hold the cam's in place ans the chains and so on . and the new gaskets are better and you have to change the head bolts to. good luck
