Is there a trick to replacing the alternator belt.Do i have to remove the p/s pump?

Answer
No you just take the alternator off or loosen it and put the belt around it and the water pump sometimes and put the alternator back on and tighten it.

i am not familiar with what the alternator belt wraps around on a 1971 truck.

but usually its the water pump.
