GM-GMC: 05 Sierra 1500 brakes, duty rotors, other vehicles
QuestionMy truck(all original) w/47K miles is likely due for front brakes. Never really towed anything nor prone to jackrabbit driving. I am currently experiencing a warpt rotor sensation(upon heavy braking and they've warmed up, the degree of which is actually pretty scary considering I have had on other vehicles w/ rotors turned or worn beyond limits. Assuming I'll be replacing these rotors, are there heavier duty ones or different pads that I can install to work/wear the rotors less. Except for this sensation and the mileage no other indicator of the need to replace exists.
Thank you.
AnswerMost of the brake issues I have seen on those trucks is a result of rust build up on the rotors. Heavier duty rotors or different pads willnot likely help with that. I would disassemble the brakes, look at the pads, if they are low or if they are showing signs of a poor wear pattern replace them and replace the rotors with new ones. Anywhere will have reasonably priced rotors for that year and model.
Hope this helps.
