GM-GMC: A/C light Blinking, battery cables, sensor data
QuestionThe A/C light on my 1992 2WD V-6 Chevrolet 1500 Cheyenne
blinks when I try to use the air conditioning. The air
conditioning works sometimes if I disconnect the battery
cables and put them back on. The A/C then works sometimes
for up to a week. I am wondering what the problem could be
and how to fix it. Thanks for your time.
AnswerI suspect that you have a faulty pressure switch. Generally to diagnose which switch (some have more than one) is faulty I would hook up a scanner and view the sensor data, one will be reading a pressure that makes no sense either 0psi or 300psi idle. If you A/C does work for weeks at a time, it isn't likely that you have a leak anywhere. Sounds more electrical to me. I don't have access to online service information for that year of truck or I could help you out some more with location etc. You may be able to simply pick up a sensor and swap it to see if it fixes the problem, as long as they are not overly expensive.
Hope this helps.
