GM-GMC: Chevy e-break repair, chevy van, salvage yard

Hi Mr. Jacobson,
I have a 2000 manuel 2dr blazer and when I'm parking on hills (any type of hill) sometimes my emergancy break won't catch and it will take 5 or 6 trys to get it to work. Why does this happen? Do I need to get something fixed? Thank you! ~Jenny

My 83 Chevy van is the same way.

There is a ratchet built into the the top of the emergency brake pedal arm that has probably worn down to the point where it will not work as it should.

The entire assembly needs to be replaced.  A salvage yard may have a good used assembly for much less than the dealer.
