GM-GMC: RED Liquid Leak, coolant leak, shaft seal

Question
I have a 99 Tahoe, that has begun to leak a red liquid from the engine block. Could it be my water pump gasket, or something else???

Today's long life anti-freeze is orange or pink in color, so you might be seeing a coolant leak.

If so, the level in your vehicle's overflow bottle will drop.

It could be a gasket but is more likely to be a hose connection or the water pump shaft seal.

Do not let the engine overheat because that will cause expensive engine damage.  Take the vehicle to a mechanic and have the problem diagnosed and corrected.
