Honda: 98 honda civic, brake rotor, bump in the road
QuestionI got new tires on my car,(which could very well be unrelated)and shortly there after i noticed a noise coming from the front passenger side of the car. When i would hit my brakes it would subside but only completely go away when i make a complete stop.i drove it for about a week and now it is constant. There doesn't seem to be any connection with how fast I'm traveling. Thank you for your time.
AnswerI think you are hearing the brake pad wear indicator. This is also known as the squealer tab. As the tab touches the brake rotor, it makes a high pitched squeal. This noise will sometimes start while the car is backing up. In the beginning stage ,it will also occur after hitting a bump in the road. Have the brakes inspected a.s.a.p.
