Hyundai: Timing Marks for elantra, crank shaft, elantra

I have a 94 elantra, but i`m not sure where the timing marks are for the 1.8 dohc. When I tried to line the marks up from the old timing belt and put the new one on, the car ran for about 8 secs. and cut off, now I can`t rotate the crank shaft but 30 deg. any direction even with the cams lined up. Can someone tell me what I`m doing wrong, and have i ruined my engine. thanks very much for any answer.
