Mercedes: mb smart key, 420sel, security side

Just purchased a 2004 500sl.  Only has one key.  I dont want to pay a dealer 250 buck for a damn key.  Are there any alternatives?

The price you pay for the Mercedes mystique is $250 for a key. I crapped to know a replacement for my 420SEL was $49.00.  Only one reason I am selling the vehicle. No more Mercedes in our household.

Even if you located a replacement it would still require a dealer programing for $$. They want to see a photo ID, title and vehicle serial number to do the job. If you decide to bit the bullet, be sure to get the knife portion as well as the electronic portion is not enough to start the car it is the security side only.
