Mercedes: Electrical and radio, door hinge, static sound

Question
I have a 1987 Mercedes SL 560 with 65k miles near Chicago. The radio puts out a static sound even when the car and radio are turned off and the battery runs down. I have used a meter and it appears the alternator is charging the battery slightly. Any thoughts?  Thanks

You have a HOT wire short to the speaker wires.
Most common is a driver door hinge area short.
