Question - What would be a good estimate (price) for having this work done? How would this estimate compare to having the radiator replaced with either an aftermarket or OEM? This is the original radiator. What is an acceptable temperature range for this automobile?
My temperature gauge indicates 95-100 degrees C with normal city driving here in Nashville. I have recently changed the thermostat, pressure cap, and a new water pump was installed in 2004. Mileage is 165K. Any suggestions
Answer -
Remove the radiator and have it flow tested at a good local radiator repair shop.
AnswerThe average MB temperature gauge should show 90-100C during normal (Summer) city driving, 80C during winter driving.
Personally I prefer investing in a new radiator for my diesels = a bad one can wreck your engine faster than you can react.
