Mitsubishi: 97 eclipse, mitsubishi eclipse gst, mitsubishi eclipse
QuestionI'm looking at buying a 97 mitsubishi eclipse GST, 2.0, T3 Turbo. I heard this generation has something called a "Crankwalk" problem. Crankshaft wears out the bearings, angine shuts down, etc. Is this a problem that can be cured if new parts were installed, or even after that, will the same problem occure? Is there a solution that wll end this thing? Thank you so much in advance.
AnswerHi Dom,
I never heard of that being a particular problem on this vehicle, but installing bearings in that engine is expensive and very hard work. Unless the bearings and races are updated and you believe this is a common failure with this engine, then yes, this will happen time and time again.
