Nissan: 200sx taillights, seperate sets, straight side

I have purchased two seperate sets of replacement taillights for my sons 1996 200sx. Both sets seem to be too small. The straight side of the lights I purchased were both about 5-1/4" and the lights on his car are 7". Am I missing something or is it possible that he has some kind of 1/2 year thing that had special taillights?? Thanks in advance!!

Tom, you ask me a question with very limited info. Where did you get you lenses? Are they OE or aftermarket? I directed you to the dealer becuase they will be able to verify if you have a  production issue. The reason I did this is based on my knowledge. If you ever need specific info on any car the dealer can give it to you by you VIN#.
