Question-------------------------
Thanks for the quick response. The headlight bulbs are halogen sealed beam. Some further research found that there was a recall for that year model on the headlight switch itself as you suggested. Could I still take the car in for a recall repair this many years later? (since '94) Also, if not the relay, what would be making that clicking sound everytime I do engage the switch that comes from (under) near the glovebox. Sorry for all the questions, but I really appreciate the help!

Dear Ed,
I have a '94 Olds Eighty-eight. Last week my headlights wouldn't turn on, after a couple of puches on the button they came on. Two days ago, same thing...but now they won't turn on at all. The parking lights and all other electrics seem fine. I replaced the fuse and still nothing. When I push the headlight button I hear a clicking sound from near the glovebox (relay?) I am at a loss and want to fix this myself if I can, especially if all it may invlove is replacing a little relay box or something. Help please!

Gene ,
I would check the switch itself , the clicking to me sounds like it might be a relay but doubt it . Are these Gas, enclosed bulb ,halogen sealed beam or Gas headlights ?
hope to hear from you soon ,

AnswerGene ,
Sorry it took me so long to repsond to your message . Apparently this service has bugs in it as well =)
I would suggest calling your dealer and asking them what the next course of action should be . Most recalls (within reason) don't have an expiration date . If the problem effects the safety of you and the vehicle then their shouldn't be any reason why the manufacturer shouldn't replace that switch .
The clicking noise itself is a mystery to me . Most wiring past the late 80's is out of my expertise . Sometimes it can any number of things .
Gene if you have any more questions or just want to post a follow up , then please feel free . Don't forget to rate my response to you .
Cheers,
