Saab: gas smell, disasterous consequences, line connections
QuestionJerry, What would create a strong gas smell in the interior of my Saab 97 2.0 turbo? No noticeable leaks under the car. The smell started a week ago and oil changed during that time frame, would there be connection?
AnswerSilvia:
Gasoline is so volatile that an amount too small to show up as a drip can cause the odor you are experiencing. If you are certain that the smell ONLY started after the oil change, I would immediately return to the place that did it for a thorough inpection. Although there is no logical connection between having an oil change and disrupted fuel line connections, sometimes a mechanic could somehow damage a fuel line inadvertantly in the course of the work.
In any case, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you have it looked as ASAP...a tiny leak could suddenly break into a large one.....with disasterous consequences!
Hope the helps,
Jerry
