QuestionThanks for the info. I am installing a Horizon Navmate 1.0. Is there any way to identify the signal? Any diagram I could refer to?

By reverse signal I mean the signal used to drive the reverse (back-up) lights. Can it be accessed from somewhere in the front of the vehicle?

Hi David,
I wanted to install a GPS in my 2000 Toyota Echo 2D sedan (manual). I was unable to locate the reverse signal. Is it located in the ECM? If yes, how do I identify it?
Thanks,
Vineet

Reverse signal? As in the reverse lights or am I mistaken? Are you installing a DIN GPS system?

Hmm.. I'm a bit curious to what GPS device you have but anyways, the reverse signal you are looking for can be found behing the guage cluster. It's a connector behind the cluster that contains the signal I believe you are looking for. Outside of that, I don't think so, especially for a 2000 Echo since Toyota went neat by that time, hiding wires to show a more clean look to it's auto wiring:)
AnswerI must be crazy.. The switch you are looking for will probably be the "park/neutral" switch on the tranny. The wiring diagram I uploaded for you is avaiable here. It's in MSWord '03.
