Toyota: Toyota Ceres, ceres, pwr

I have a toyota Ceres. It seems to have a power and another button next to it which is labled as "MAU" Well both switch can be kept off or eith one can be kept on. What are they for and what is the use of this switch. What does it do?

MAU is the function used for going up hills it gives it another gear. Power is the button that gives the car a boost when you accelerate hard or you overtake don't always leave it in pwr as it wastes petrol. If you need anymore questions answered please feel free to ask. Kind regards Dean.
