Volkswagen: manual release fuel tank, passat wagon, fuel tank

Question
1999 passat wagon
looked for a release by the  door through the trunk- found  nothing.
I can't get gas in the car.
my owners manual does not specify which fuse would be responsible-
so i am pulling them and checking them- but so far no luck-
help!

Bridgitte,
 You should be able to get to it from the trunk.  You will likely have to remove the trim carpet on the side wall near the cover location.  You should then see a mechanism with the electronic  solenoid which operates a lever/rod; pull it manually.
