Volkswagen: rear defogger, rear defogger, limp home

Hello, I just purchased a VW 2004 Passat GLX and have a couple of questions.  First, I don't can't find the rear window defogging button.  And also, I've heard about the "coming home" feature but don't know what it is or does.  I appreciate your help.  Thanks very much.

The "limp home" feature is a special mode the car computer goes into when there is a problem which the computer cannot otherwise compensate for.  For example, if the engine speed sensor goes bad, which is critical for doing the proper fuel/air/timing calculations, the computer must the make a "best guess".  The result is very low performance in order to protect the engine from damage, and the "Check Engine" indicator will light.
