Volkswagen: 1975 VW BUG CARB, carb, carburetor
Questioni NOTICE THE WIRE GOING TO THE FUEL SHUT OF VALVE BROKE ENGINE STILL RUNS DON'T KNOW WHICH WIRE GOES THERE COUPLE DANGELINGY A WHITE WIRE AND A GREEN WIRE ON LEFT A WHITE WIRE ON RIGHT PLEASE HELP LUV MY BUG
AnswerThere should be no WHITE wires in the engine compartment on a 75 Standard (carbureted). The only GREEN wire I know of is between the Regulator and Generator. The fuel cutoff (Electromagnetic Pilot Jet) uses a BLACK wire which is directly connected to the Coil. However, only 71 and 72 models should have a separate electromagnetic fuel cutoff on the carb; all later models have it built into the fuel pump, no wires required. Therefore, I need clarification if this is really a carbureted engine, a fuel injected engine, or simply a totally modified engine/carb/wiring setup. Most 1975 and above US models are fuel injected Super Beetles, which do have a number of WHITE wires, some of which deal with fuel/air control. However, if yours is Standard (non-Super) carbureted and non-modified, it should have a 34 PICT-3 carburetor. Obviously, thing are configured different between these possibilities.
All this is assuming US models, of which I am familiar.
