Volkswagen: Unhooking the battery, locksmith, passat

I lost my keys for my 99 passat (they might be inside, but I doubt it).  I want to have a locksmith unlock it, but if he does the alarm will go off.  I want to unhook the battery so that the alarm is not going off forever.  How do I do this?

How skinny and long are your arms?  JK

Unfortunately, I don't see a way around this.  Just have a 10mm wrench in your hand and as soon as it is unlocked, pop the hood and disconnect the battery.  Hope you have your radio reset code.  Good luck.
