Volkswagen: hard to hit reverse, haynes manual, vw service

i just replaced the motor in my 69 campmobile and now it is really hard to  find reverse it has been sitting about 6 months. would like to change the tranny oil but those are huge allen wrenche..... do i need to buy them special from the vdub guy????         thanks alot for your help this is my first vw and i love it....i have haynes , chilton and the idiot book  !!!!!!take your pick

There is a way to adjust the gearshift (there is a movable plate on the floor, at the bottom of the shifter).

A Haynes Manual, Bentley Manual, or Official VW Service Manual has the step-by-step instructions.  Unfortunately, the instructions are a little long for me to post here.
