Volkswagen: 1968 radio install, proper fuse, radio vw
QuestionI am attempting to replace an aftermarket cd player in my 1968 sedan. Problem is, the head unit in there isn't connected to anything as it is (this is how I recieved the vehicle) and therefore I have NO idea where or how to put my wires from the head unit's harness. The wiring diagrams in my Chilton's make no mention whatsoever of a radio or its possible connecting points and there are definitely no wires just hanging out doing nothing behind the dash. Help?
AnswerKevin,
#9 in the fuse box is reserved for a radio. Remove the battery, unscrew the fuse box, and simply plug in the hot wire for the radio. Make sure you use the proper fuse that the radio/VW calls for in the book.
Any clean metal surface on the car body should serve as a suitable ground.
Let me know how you make out.
