Volkswagen: 72 beetle power question, voltage regulator, rear seat

I have a 72 beetle. It was running good and but the Gen light is on and the battery is not charging. But the car runns when I get a jump start. Is it the generator or should I look for something else. Can it be elictrical?
Pls help I'm runnign  out options...

Hi Rob,

You can check out the voltage regulator,  under the rear seat.  It's a square box and is positioned on the side opposite the battery.

Sometimes the contacts get dirty or fall out.

Check this first and let me know how you make out.
