Volkswagen: 94 Golf timing, vacuum hoses, timing specs

Hi Ron..  Nice to chat with you.

I've got a question regarding timing.  I recently bought a timing light and went about setting the timing on my 94 Golf.  It says, however, in the manual to consult the service manual if any vacuum hoses or sensors need to be disconnected before actually setting the timing.  Would you know if this is indeed the case with my v-dub?

Hi Chris,

It is probably based on the emission standards of your area.  If you can tell me what state your VW was purchased in while new, I can try to find out the proper timing specs regarding vacuum hoses, etc.

Also, what side of the engine is the distributor located?

What model/type of engine is in your VW Golf?
