Volkswagen: 1972 Karmann Ghia wiring problem, light switch, tail light

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my 1972 Karmann Ghia wiring/fuse.  When I put the brakes on with the headlights on it blows the #1 fuse for the license plate light, parking, side and right tail light.  I have recently removed and re-installed the speed-o, clock, light switch and hazard indicators but I am sure that I have all the connections back correctly but the wiring behind the dash is a bit of a mess.  Any idea where I can begin to troubleshoot would be appreciated.

Do you have a Karmann Ghia book with the wiring diagram in it? (looks like lines everywhere)?

If not, pick up the book.
