Volkswagen: repair front trunk latch of VW 1974 Ghia, glove compartment, trunk latch

The front trunk latch suddenly does not work. How do you
replace it? I bought a cable with lever that fits in the glove
compartment like the old one but I don't know how to open the
trunk as I don't see where the old cable is broken

Hello Roberto,

You should be able to see the cable (it is in a casing with a white cover, I believe) underneath the car where it comes out of the body before it sneaks into the trunk.

If not, try looking under the front hood and see if you can get a glimpse of it.  When you see it, just cut it and pull the cable with a pair of pliers.  The front should pop right up.
