Volvo: repair or swap 850 volvo engine, mileage engine, volvo engine

Question

850 Cylinder Rust I recently picked up a 1994 850 non turbo that has blown head gasket.  I pulled head and found that the cylinder where gasket was blown has signs of rust along top edge of cylinder.  The car evidently sat longer than I had thought.  Would you buy donor engine or just clean rust and replace gaskets? I have attached a photo of the cylinder.  Thank you for your help.  BTW, car was a real deal.

Well there is some rust but most times that is not a big deal. I would just have the head checked out and clean up some of the rust. Now if you can find a good donor engine and the price is right that could work. However you still really do not know that engines condition, and getting a low mileage engine of that year, almost impossible.
