Volvo: 240 DL, two minuets, meter check

My 240 Dl has been running just fine until Sunday. I had been driving down highway for about 40 miles when it just died, I let it set for about ten minuets and it just started up and ran great for about two minuets and stopped again. It stops just like you would turn the key off.

When it stops running is it because there is not any fuel? Are the pumps running is the filter clogged? Could you be losing spark, like a bad coil or plug wires cap, rotor?  What year is this car and what motor? Is it new enough to read fault codes? Like a bad flywheel pick up or Air mass meter? Check these things and see where you are at.
