Volvo: 2qs-rough starts & maintenance light, volvo s60, 2001 volvo s60

My 2001 Volvo S60 is great.  I will always own Volvo. I am faced with two problems.  The difficult one - If I am sitting at a stop light, I can feel the car shift itself (auto transmission).  If seems as if it almost puts itself into neutral.  When I go to take off, if I don't pause for the feel of it shifting itself back into drive, its seems as if I'm performing a neutral drop burnout.  It isn't a terrible problem, just annoying.
Also, I get my oil changed regularly and when I do, the maintenance light wont go off.  So I was hoping there is any easy way for me to reset it.  Thanks for your help, I love this website.

There is an internal problem in the trans and codes need to be read before doing any repair work. Get to a Volvo shop so those can be read and the problem taken care of before more serious damage is done.
Key in position I hold in the mileage reset button, while holding turn the key to number II position hold it until the light flashes and release. That will reset the light.
