Volvo: S70 running after engine is shut off, gas cap, temp sensor

Hi Ray.
My check engine light just came on last night about 5 minutes before I pulled into my driveway. Normally, I would think it's the gas cap issue, but when I turned the car off the fan was running. I found this strange because I've never heard it run before after turning the car off and because it's about 15 degrees outside. Does this sound odd to you?   Thanks, Wayne

With the fan running after the ignition is turned off there will be a problem with either the fan relay or the control unit, or depending on the fault code the temp sensor. The sensor may indicate the engine is hot and therefore turn on the fan. If and when you replace the sensor also do a engine t/stat.
