Volvo: volvo 960 keyless remote, 1996 volvo 960, volvo 960
QuestionI brought 2 remotes for my 1996 volvo 960 and I have tried to program them using the 5 on off procedure with the key and it still will not work. I had the remote and batteries check and they check out okay. The manual says only 3 remotes can be program to a car. Could it be that some other remotes from the previous owner could be program to my car? If so how could I reset it or correct this? I have already disconnect the battery.
AnswerRon,
Before starting reprograming, check that the remote control transmitter concerned uses the same frequency as the receiver. The receiver module is marked with a letter as shown in the illustration. Transmitters have the part number engraved underneath.
NOTE: New frequencies may have been introduced since.
Receiver module marking Transmitter PIN
A (9148647) 9148646
B (9128710) 9128709
C (9128928) 9128927
Reprograming erases any key codes previously stored in the transmitter's memory and replaces them with the latest code(s) programed in.
