Volvo: 1993 Volvo 850 GLT - Running Hot, volvo 850 glt, coolant tank
QuestionMy '93 850 is putting out a smell as if something is over heating. Once the car in turns off, the smell goes away quickly. I did notice that the coolant tank was over filling a bit, but the temp gauge does not spike to hot. I suspect the Catalytic Converter is causing the smell and car to over heat. Any suggestions? Thanks, Romeo
AnswerRomeo,
If you are not sure the engine is running hot and or there is something burning, take the car to a shop that will do some tests. If the cat did overheat it usually turns red, that could be due to a clogged exhaust system or unburnt fuel getting to the cat.
