Volvo: Warning light, resivor, instrument cluster

I have a light come up on my S40 1997 model which looks like a hand brake light only that it has a ! in the middle, what is it?

Here in the United States we did not have a S40 until 2000. So I am not sure what that light means. Grab the owners manual and find the area that will describe the instrument cluster and that should help. I have seen lights that mean the level in the brake fluid resivor is low, the brake light or lights are not working. So look in the book...
