Volvo: Volvo S80, volvo s80, vanderbeek

Hi Ray,

I have a Volvo S80.  Just the other day I went to leave my garage for work and my car would not come out of park.  There was absolutely not indication to this at all.  I had my car towed to Volvo and they are telling me I need a new trans.  Have you ever heard of this problem before?  I would appreciate any knowledge you could pass on to me.

I have not heard of that problem as you have stated it. Get a hold of the Service Manager and have him explain why it is the trans will not come out park, and needs a transmission. Now I have heard of the shift lock not working causing the shifter to not move and need repair. I also have heard of the trans shifting into gear but not moving. I think that you deserve an explaination.
