Volvo: ignition , coolant level, volvo 850 glt, coolant level

i just bought a 1996 volvo 850  first when i start the car sometimes the dummy lights come on and i jiggle the key and they all go off i dont have the 160 to fix the ignition right now what will happen if i dont fix right away.  the low coolant light popped on i looked in the over floww and it was empty when hot.  I am a guy who never has worked on my own cars but im going through a divorce and cant afford to bring it to the shop what can i fill it up with how much and what should icheck for.  it is not leeking i know that I dont know if it takes  special coolant .it is a 1996 volvo 850 glt

putting coolant is really simple. you want to wait till the car cools off a little , like an hour or so or in the morning when cold, you have to have a 50% water and 50% antifreeze , you can get the 50/50 mix at the auto part stores now, they sell it by the gallon- and you don't have to have special coolant from the dealer. about the lights i'm not sure what it could be , they come on at first anyway, but i wouldn't worry about them right away.
