Volvo: 1992 940Turbo Stereo, aftermarket radio, disc changer

I'm in NJ as well. Got a 1992 940Turbo. Runs great. Love it. Stereo is terrific except that I only have about 8 tapes and I really want to put a CD player in there. The question is - is the system in my Volvo a factory installed amplified system? If it is, I understand that I can't just put a new unit in place of the original. Is that true?

Hello Larry! Volvo makes a 6 disc changer that mounts in the trunk. It can be pricey though. You are probably better off getting a n aftermarket radio with a cd player installed. Some 940's did come with a factory installed amp. You will have to look under the drivers side dash to see if you have one. If you pull out the radio, you can also see the connector for the amp.
