Volvo: distributor, strobe light, o ring

i had a bad oil leak from my distributor on my 1988 240 so i replaced the o ring and now i need to know how to align and install the distributor.

To realign the distributor once it has been reinserted, you'll need to get your hands on a strobe light timing gun.  You'll need to give the distributor several twists until you see the engine come to about 10 degree alignment while idling.  By twist, I mean you'll need to rotate it either clockwise or counter-clockwise as much as 30 degrees until the timing is correct.  Good luck!
