Volvo: over drive relay, wire harness, chasis

Question
how can i bypass the relay and turn it on all thr time. I have no idea where the short of the mishap is. The car again is a 89 740 gl. thanks

If you were to bypass the relay, it would have the overdrive engaged through all the gears, which would destroy your transmission.  If you are searching for a short, I would check the wire harness that runs from the shifter button down through the hole in the chasis and around the top of the transmission.
