QuestionHi Jimmy,
I have a 1995 Volvo 940 station wagon. When I run the air
conditioner my car dies after about 1/2 hour. No dash
lights come on, it just stops running. I can restart it by
turning off the fan and ac and putting it in neutral, but it is
very dangerous in that this will happen at anytime (freeway,
etc.) I have tried tesing it around town and it
also stopped running after I restarted it with the ac off
(after ac had previously been running). My Volvo mechanic
cannot repeat the problem and cannot figure it out. I am
assuming its some relay that is overheating and shuts the
engine down.
Thanks.
Joanie
AnswerHello Joanie! That is a tough one. It could be one of many things. The a/c compressor could be starting to sieze or there could be a problem with any one of the components in the fuel or ign. sys. It is best to have the car checked out by a qualified Volvo technician ASAP befor it leaves you stranded.
