4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 2001 Chevy Z-71, z 71, model type

Question
My '01 Z-71 with electronic 4 wheel drive is stuck in 4 wheel. Is there a way to disable the system so that it only operates in 2wd?

As far as I can find out, there is no way to disable the system as you asked.
Also, Z-71 is not a specific model.  To look up information, I would need to know which transfer case it has, as the Chevy's had different transfer cases in their pickups.  An example of a model type would be something like a K 1500, etc.  Even then, there were more than one transfer case that was used in each model.
