I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8L with about 114000 miles and when I start it and take off there is hesitation?

This could be several things from water in the gas to needing an engine overhaul.

The first thing I would do is to put a can of good fuel system  cleaner in the gas and see if that clears it up.  If that doesn't help, then I would give the vehicle a complete tune up.

From there, you may need to have a reputable shop run an electronic diagnostic test on the engine.
